Wii Play Sports With Mario
September 30, 2006 at 11:01 am AST by Rodney MacLeod

My favorite Nintendo games were the multiplayer Mario sports games: Mario Golf, Mario Kart, and Mario Tennis. I think there is supposed to be a Mario Baseball, but I am not a fan of baseball video games.

Two games that I think would be awesome to have added to the mario sports games would be Mario Paintball: A first player shooter Mario and Mario Wrestling.

The paintball would be make first player shooter children freindly by making the guns paintball guns. The weapons in the game would be fun weapons like in Mario Kart. Each player could have special abilities also like it Mario Kart for Game Cube. They could even have solo missions like in James Bond, or Halo games where Princess Peach needs to be saved.

I know there already exists a Mario Smash bros, but wrestling would be different. It would be in a wrestling wring with actual wrestling moves. Not just characters shooting at each other ina 2D screen. Each Character could have specail moves. Their could be special power ups you can get. Tag team for multiplayer game play.

How about a Mario Football or Hockey?? If they can do Mario soccer and baseball they should be able to do it. Or maybe soccer-baseball, i loved that game.

I'm looking forward to the new Wii system, not only just for the new Zelda game, but I think there is alot of potential with the new controllers. Can't wait to try a new Mario Party!!

I saw a commercial for 3-3 Mario basket ball for the DS.

I can see a 3 on 3 basket ball being fun as a mario game. You would have a lot of choices for your teams. I have not played baseball, or soccer(I did not even know there was a soccer) but I thought you would only be able to just make up 2 teams with different players. Is there 18+ players to pick from to make your team, or do you just have a team made up of a couple of main characters, and a bunch of the generic guys like koopas, mushroom guys and yoshis?

I picked up a Wii on Monday. No, i didn't wait outside Futureshop overnight, I managed to get in line in time at EB games around 8:00 in the morning, which was good enough for 8th spot. They only sold 11 systems so i got lucky. The sports game that is included is quite entertaining! Very simple, but it is a good introduction to the Wii remote. I don't think i'll ever actually go real bowling again. I also picked up the new Zelda and just got into it a bit; it too is very impressive. I think we will see some very cool games come out for this system; I can't even imagine what they could do with the Mario Party series.

Note of caution. Playing Wii bowling while intoxicated may result in massive knee internal hemmoraghing, right Jen?
