SeptemberYou Can't Fit a Round Peg in a Square HoleSeptember 20, 2006 at 1:53 pm AST by Rodney MacLeodUnless it is a small round peg and big square whole.
Toothbrushes have been evolving for quite some time now. They advertise all types of new toothbrush heads. Flex heads, rubber bristles, varying heights of bristles and mixed stiffnesses on the same brush. These advancements are all great. All designed to to make a better brushing experience.
Something that changed that they do not advertise that has effected my life the most is the handle. The handle on toothbrushes has grown in girth. I assume this is to provide a more comfortable grip while brushing. The problem is the people who design toothbrush holder do not seem to realize that toothbrush handles are wider than they used to be.
I have had to resort to putting my toothbrush in a cup and have a toothbrush holder on the wall that just hangs there. I do not think that there is a single toothbrush/toothbrush holder combination where the toothbrush fits in the holder. Do toothbrush holder engineers not own toothbrushes, or ever brush their teeth? Why is it that it seems beyond them to make the hole where my tooth brush goes bigger? It is not like they just started making toothbrushe bigger. I do not remember my toothbrush fitting in those tiny holes in the last 10 years. 10 years seems long enough for toothbrush holder technology to catch up with toothbrush technology.

They should make toothbrush holder with a large hole to hold at least the battery powered toothbrush ( oh these are the best too. Circular spinning motion just like how the dentist says I should brush my teeth). Anyways yeah large hole with stiff rubber on the inside with an X cut in the center large enough for a big toothbrush and small and tight enough to hold and support old school brushes.
Posted by ash on September 25, 2006 at 11:12 pm ASThttp://gunpowdergelatine.blogspot.comagreed. i thouroughly enjoy kent's idea with the stiff rubber and the X. I would prefer however something that could hang your toothbrush upside down so that it's always dry when you use it. i find when they are sitting in those cups the toothbrush handle is always wet. and that really grinds my gears.
Posted by PAUL MAC on September 28, 2006 at 1:00 am ASThttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ToothbrushYou know what grinds my gears??? those little rubber protective thingys you can get for your toothbrush. sure they protect your brush from airborn bacteria and splashing urine (thank you Myth-busters), but they can get pretty disgusting themselves and are impossible to clean (don't ever smell one!!). I think a great way to go is inplant little magnets into every toothbrush and just have a metal strip in the wall then when you're done brushing your teeth, you can just toss your brush at the wall and the wall will catch it. that would be fun; i'd brush my teeth at least once a day for sure!!!
p.s. Yes Ashley, I'm sure you would thouroughly enjoy a stiff piece of rubber...
