JulyTime ShiftsJuly 26, 2005 at 9:07 am AST by Rodney MacLeodThe U.S. is proposing a new daylight savings plan, one that starts March and ends in November, two extra Months. People are complaining and say that they should not change it or that Canada should follow suit. In Canada though, daylight savings comes under provincial jurisdiction. Which is why Saskatchewan does not change its clocks like every one else.
A couple of Canadian complaints about the proposed change are that they time differences will affect businesses and air travel. Correct me if I am wrong, but are their not already time zones that create time differences. This makes me think that the bulk of the complaints are coming from Ontario and Quebec businesses that deal with businesses in New York and New England, or B.C. with California. The rest of Canada has to make sure they know what time their flight arrives in New York, or what time their parcel will arrive in Boston and we get along ok.
The only negative I see revolves around the television. I would have to stay up until 2:30 to catch all of
Jay Leno and 3:30 for
Conan O’Brien on U.S. network television in November. On the other hand I can watch U.S. network television at the times they were intended to be watch for one month in April.

Starting in 2007 we will have one more months of it. I supposed this is going to to save us a couple of dollars on our electric bill, but what if the rest of Canada does not follow. More importantly, what if the NB and NS do not follow. There wilt be two short periods of confusion for us, and anyone visiting us.
