Second City Star Spotting
September 9, 2004 at 5:05 pm AST by Rodney MacLeod

I have seen celebrities before. Maybe not big name celebrities, but I have been seen a few. At Peakes Quay in Charlottetown I have seen Lori Kane, the Trailer Park Boys, and NHL hockey players, none of these people really excited me too much. When I was in high school at met and talked to Sheila Copps at a high school assembly, admittedly I was not too excited about it at the time as I had no idea who she was. She kept talking about my name since she met 2 other Rodneys that day. She now thinks Rodney is a popular name in Summerside. I forget who he was, but when we were kids hanging out by a local ball diamond some ex-MLB coach came up and talked to a bunch of us. I don't think any of us knew who he was then either. Some one mentioned the NY rangers and he went on about Texas Rangers and everyone was confused. This summer I went Camping and met Gary Thomasson. This one I thought was kind of neat, just because he was an interesting guy to talk to. He told us how he does not think any professional athlete is worth millions, and that his friends say he is just jealous because he only made about $30,000. I did have to go home and look up his name on the internet to find out who he was.

This brings us to yesterday. I drove my uncle to the airport in Halifax. Will he was checking in I saw some one. I thought I recognized him and was trying to figure out where I knew them from. After he walked by Sarah looked at me and asked me if I knew who he was. Thats when I clued in that it was not someone that I actually knew personally. It was Eugene Levy. I actually got excited. I think he is hilarious. I will admit I have not seen alot of his work, but he was great in American Pie, and I do like what I see of him on reruns of SCTV. This is one celebrity I would actually have liked to meet, but I respected his privacy and left him alone. That and I did not know that sarah had her camera with her.

Let us know if you have ever had any brushes with fame.

Way to not meet someone famous Rod.

I've walked past Dave Foley and Tom Green in Ottawa. The Tom Green sighting was funny. He was coming out of an Indian rug store on Sussex with his mom and he was carrying a big huge rolled up rug over hos shoulder and bitching to his mom about having to carry it.

Plus I taught Tommy Hilfiger's nephew whose brother opened for Britney Spears. That's the best I can do.

Hi, Rodney.
I've also not met Eugene Levy. He was on an LA to Toronto flight with me (I was in the cheap seats; he wasn't), and we both waited for our delayed luggage, but I did not actually talk to him.
I actually sat beside Bob Stanfield one day. The lady on the other side monopolized the conversation, but he was very gracious, and I did get to say a few words to him.

HEY,

I once was in Hali for an OUR LADY PEACE/EVERCLEAR concert and we ended up staying in the same hotel as OLP. I know this because I bumped into Raine Maida coming out of an elevator before the show. I smacked him pretty good. It would have been funny if I hurt him and they had to cancel the show. He gave me a pretty good stare after it happened so I was all like "YEH, WAZUP YOU LIKE THAT? WHATEVER!!!" He is a good singer.

Holy crap.... Paul almost got into a fight with the lead singer from Our Lady Peace?!? That would make Paul an almost celebrity.

I remember one time when i was at Rodneys place, and I ran into Paul Mac on the way to the washroom. He was like "YEH, WAZUP YOU LIKE THAT? WHATEVER!!!"

He is a good dancer.

I met a new celebrity. Albeit a small local (Amherst/Turo) celebrity. I met the big guy from Two Guys and a Computer at a wedding I went to this weekend. I actually talked to this one. It was sort of the same situation as Eugene Levy, I saw him and thought I knew him then it hit me when I heard his voice. I think his name was Kirk, but I met alot of people and did not catch have their names, and I forget most of the ones I did here.
