OctoberThrone Away from HomeOctober 26, 2004 at 11:27 am AST by Rodney MacLeodDennis and I once talked about putting together a book rating bathrooms. I think someone actually published one since then. Well I was in New Brunswick this past weekend with my girlfriend and her family and we stopped off at Fred's in
Cap Pele on the way home. The bathroom at Fred's was one of the best I have ever been in and it reminded me of the book idea. Instead of writing a book that would not sell I decided to rate them here in my blog.
The bathroom at Fred's was spotless, the urinal did not have any of yellow pee stains anywhere. It was spacious; you would not have to awkwardly shuffle by a stranger. It had three uinals and two stalls. It was an automated bathroom. I know there are lots of automated bathrooms, some have urinals that flush automatically, some have sensors at the sink, and others have sensors for the blow dryer. A lot of the times these do not work very well and you have to wave your hands under them to get them started just to have them turn off in three seconds. Well this place had all three and they worked. There were no sensors for the soap dispensor or for the toilet, but I don't think I have ever seen either before. I give this bathroom a 4 out of 5.
If you have found any great bathrooms, or any dismal bathrooms let us know. It is nice to know what you are getting into before you relieve yourself.
Posted by Kent MacLeod on October 26, 2004 at 1:07 pm ASTWell you guys should come over here and see Dalhousie Sexton Campus's pisser. Dalhousie is over populated with the male species. When initially built there were no women bathrrooms. Anyways, Dalhousie's bathrooms here are rotten. There are about 7 urinals in each bathroom (all automated) but the bathroom smells like piss 24/7. Don't even get me started on the shitters. I like pooping. Heck I will poop anywheres. But these bathrooms aren't fit to shit.
Posted by Julien St-Pierre on October 26, 2004 at 9:34 pm ASTthis, this is true.
most of the womens bathrooms are single stall rooms. (the doors are sometimes left open, ok? no, I did not go inside...)
definately a -2 / 5
Posted by Benny on November 1, 2004 at 4:33 pm ASThttp://occasionallywright.typepad.comCherokee Town Club, Atlanta, Georgia. Great place to take a dump. Individual clean hand towels to dry your hands with when you're done (they have a seperate hole in the countertop for the used towls) and there's an electric shoe buffer so you can polish your kicks. Nicest bathroom I've ever been in that didn't have an attendant that wanted money.

Posted by austin on November 2, 2004 at 1:26 pm ASTI found it interesting to hear of the horrid conditions of washrooms in dalhouse. This fine instution is so advanced to what the canpus at belmont was yet the washrooms fail to advance with the rest of education sytem.
Our washroom was on campus but not in the main buliding. In the winter it was just on the other side of the snow bank.Following a snow storm it was best to leave a little in advance of your need as you may have to remove snow from cubicle. It was a unisex facitity,a two seater.there was a seat with a smaller hole for the maidens and a larger hole for the males so they could practice their writing skills while in there.
Toilet paper was replaced in the spring and fall.Brand name was Eaton or Sears. Sometimes there was a special Christmas edition. This TP was neither soft or absorbant.
The seat did not have pee stains. It was made of wooden boards.it pinched and splintered but did not stain. There was no sinks with automatic sensors, which was ok because one of our coarses was "how not to pee on your fingers 101.If you failed this coarse there was a hand pump on campus.Caution had to be used on frosty days because if your hand were damp when using pump you not only removed pee from your fingers but skin as well.Smell control consisted of sprinkling line over waste material left in the building.
Sounds kind of crude dosn't it .But how far did we really come in providing a comfortable enviorment in which to perform one of our most important and basic needs
Posted by Glasseyerod on November 10, 2004 at 6:23 pm ASThttp://www.glasseyerod.comDoes anyone remember the bathroom at Silver Streams (chinese restaurant downtown Charlottetown) before its last move. It was one of the worst bathrooms I have ever been in. Very small and very dirty. The urinal was falling apart. It does make me wonder what the kitchen was like. Definite 0/5 for this one.
Posted by Ami on November 19, 2004 at 2:07 pm AST42nd Street Lounge in Charlottetown has nice bathrooms. They provide real towels, handcream, hairspray, etc. Or at least they used to.
In Ottawa there is a smalll pub called Quinn's which has nice bathrooms. Clean, well decorated and they smell nice. This is very rare for a pub.
Posted by Dennis on November 19, 2004 at 5:05 pm ASTTwo of the worst bathrooms i can ever remember being in no longer exist. [This is a good thing] The first was the mens room at the old Barn on the UPEI campus. Half smashed urinals and an inch of piss on the floor, all in a nice green and white decor. The other one would be at the old CDP where they used to hold the exibition in the summer. Instead of urinals, there was just a big old cow feeding trough that everyone lined up side by side and pissed in - unless you were under 5 feet tall, then you just peed on the floor..
