JuneRules of the RoadJune 22, 2004 at 5:03 pm AST by Kent MacLeodWhen driving a vechile or walking, an individual must be aware of other pedestrians or fellow drivers. If someone needs help to enter onto a busy road, and you are in the postion to offer assistance, then you should allow the driver or walker access to their destination, only if by doing so you do not disrupt the flow of traffic abruptly. Now this part is the final and key piece of the whole situation...........the WAVE or the HEAD nod. An individual stopped his forward momentum to help a fellow man or woman, therefore a thank you is in order. Nothing bothers me more than no wave or nothing. Please fellow drivers a little thank you is all I request......you too crosswalk people, you too

I couldn't agree more. I usually go with the slight head nod (only if eye contact is made) as well as the finger-flick, you know, the one where you use your driving hand to wave without actually removing your hand from the wheel. This way, if the recieving person doesn't in fact see you wave, you don't look like a total moron.
Posted by Prudence on July 22, 2004 at 2:03 pm ASTI couldn't agree with you more..... Yesterday I let three people get out of side streets where they would have sat for a time and not one person gave a nod, wave, eye contact or kiss my ass! I was so pissed that I sped up and gave them the finger and not just any finger either!!! (just kidding) I was just really mad that they have no manners so the next time I had a chance to let someone out I just sped up and made sure they had to sit there..
Posted by fat bastard on January 21, 2005 at 9:15 am ASTmy approach is to coax them onto the street , then run the fucker over. then wave thank you for the target practice. dumb shit.
