Fahrenheit 9/11 Not What I Expected
July 7, 2004 at 11:06 am AST by Rodney MacLeod

I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 yesterday. I went in with high expectations since I thought Bowling for Columbine was so well done, but like most times when I have high expectations for movies I was let down. It was not that I did not like what Moore had to say because for the most part I agree with what he was trying to say. It could have been partly because I felt there was very little information presented that I did not already here from some other source. Maybe this is because I live in Canada and news agencies here do not feel the pressures that US news agencies feel when they put a negative spin on news affecting their government giving me views of the same story they here in the states.

I also feel Moore tried to Moore relied more on emotion than on facts. There is a lengthy segment dealing with the family of a fallen solider which I feel was over done. It felt like he was trying to overwhelm the viewer with emotion just incase he could not reach you with the facts that he presented.

My favourite part of the movie occurred before the opening credits. Here Moore presented information about the 2000 Election that I have never heard. It did not prove anything, but it definitely made me think that something unethical could have happened in the Florida election.

Although I was sitting in the theatre wondering when this movie would ever end, I do hope alot of americans do go out and see it. I think they will have a better appreciation for it than I did. I hope that they do watch it and think about it seriously before they go vote in November, whether they are voting Bush or not. I would also recommend seeing both sides and watch Michael Moore Hates America to see another view other than Michael Moores. I did not see this, so it could be just a Moore bashing film, and not be relavlant to the election or Fahrenheit 9/11. I do plan on seeing this at least when it come to video.

This movie does not interest me at all. I think I am sick of hearing American bashing and pounding on Bush. Yes, Bush may be a little out there in his conduct and means but I think I could make a movie showing Bush as a hero. All this movie is, is Moore's opinion and others that agree with him. I am not sure if it should have ever been played at Empire theatres or any other big theatres. It is only one man movie based on what he believes and he is just causing shit. No offence to Moore himself, just the movie.
